WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) sent a letter to President Donald Trump urging him to offer Deferred Enforcement Departure (DED) for individuals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela who were legally paroled into the United States through the CHNV program. The letter highlights the unique crises in these countries and proposes DED as a solution to ensure proper vetting while maintaining America’s commitment to protecting those fleeing persecution and violence.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Rep. Maria Salazar (FL-27) introduced the Nurture Originals, Foster Art, and Keep Entertainment Safe (NO FAKES) Act along with Reps. Madeleine Dean (PA-04), Nathaniel Moran (TX-01), Becca Balint (VT-At Large), and Joe Morelle (NY-25). The legislation protects the voice and likeness of all individuals from unauthorized, computer-generated recreations from generative artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House Energy and Commerce Committee this week advanced H.R. 633, the bipartisan, bicameral TAKE IT DOWN Act, a bill designed to protect victims of real and deepfake revenge pornography. Introduced by Rep. Maria Salazar (FL-27) and Rep. Madeleine Dean (PA-4), the legislation has already passed the Senate, where it was introduced by Sen. Ted Cruz (TX) and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (MN). The bill currently has nearly 40 bipartisan cosponsors in the House.
