Bipartisan Push: Reps. Salazar and Tom Suozzi Join Business Leaders to Highlight Urgent Immigration and Workforce Solutions

October 24, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar (FL-27) and Congressman Tom Suozzi (NY-3) joined members of the American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC) today at the U.S Capitol to underscore the urgent need for bipartisan action to modernize America’s immigration system, strengthen the nation’s workforce, and provide legal status for long-term, law-abiding immigrants.

The “Secure America’s Workforce” press conference underscored the critical role immigrants play in driving U.S. economic growth. Business leaders shared firsthand accounts of how workforce instability is creating widespread economic and community challenges.

Congresswoman Salazar thanked ABIC for its advocacy and emphasized that the Dignity Act of 2025 remains the only bipartisan, commonsense solution in Congress to address our immigration crisis.

"Today, America is running out of workers. We have a 1.7 million worker shortage in critical industries, and 1.2 million immigrant workers have disappeared from the labor force just this year. Our economy is feeling it," said Rep. Maria Salazar. "These are not strangers. They are the people who harvest our crops, build our homes, care for our loved ones, and keep our businesses open. The truth is an enforcement-only approach is not a strategy. It weakens our economy, hurts small businesses, and risks removing the very workers who make America run. That’s why the Dignity Act is the only solution that secures our workforce and our borders at the same time."

Congressman Suozzi echoed the call for urgent bipartisan cooperation, stating that, “I applaud the bipartisan work of Congresswoman Salazar and Congresswoman Escobar. The American people want Democrats and Republicans to work together to keep the border secure, fix the broken asylum system and legalize millions of hardworking people who have been in the United States for decades contributing to our economy, and despite not having proper documentation, have been otherwise playing by the rules. I will continue to work with them to build a coalition of ‘Business, Badges, and the Bible,’ to get this done!”

Rebecca Shi, CEO of the American Business Immigration Coalition said, “We are gathered today at a critical moment for our country and our economy. We are here because, for over a decade, ABIC has been calling for commonsense immigration reform. We are here to call on Congress and the White House to secure America’s workforce. That means a path to legal status for our essential immigrant labor force.”

The Dignity Act of 2025 continues to gain momentum nationwide, drawing support from almost 50 national organizations and over 20 Members of Congress from both parties. Faith, business, and community leaders across the country agree that the cost of inaction is too high. What was once a policy debate has become a national crisis affecting every part of American life, from the economy and workforce to neighborhoods and houses of worship.

The Dignity Act of 2025 is a serious, bipartisan plan that restores order at the border, strengthens America’s workforce, and brings stability to American workers and families across the country. It speaks to both the moral and economic urgency of this moment, protecting jobs, upholding the rule of law, and honoring the dignity of work and family as core American values.
