Salazar Joins the Innovative Congressional DOGE Caucus

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) proudly announced her intention to join the Congressional Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus. Led by Rep. Aaron Bean (R-FL), the Caucus will focus on the work of coordinating with the incoming Department of Government Efficiency to implement legislation to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse.
“The American people deserve a federal government that treats their tax dollars with respect and takes a fresh look at government efficiency,” said Rep. Salazar. “I am proud to join the DOGE Caucus to help bring accountability to Washington. The time for wasteful governing is over.”
On November 12, 2024, President-elect Donald Trump appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the Department of Government Efficiency. The goal of this new Department is to dismantle out-of-control bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful spending, and restructure bloated federal agencies.
For years, the U.S. government has spent more money than it takes in. It is currently borrowing over $6 billion a day, and half of it goes to pay the interest on the debt alone. Under the Biden-Harris Administration, interest on the national debt has tripled and now accounts for more than we spend on our entire defense budget. Our borrowing is projected to double in less than ten years. Our credit has been downgraded, our foreign creditors are pulling back, and a debt crisis looms large over our great nation.
We need fresh and innovative proposals to reduce wasteful spending and bring back fiscal discipline to our public finances. This will create certainty in our markets, protect the future of our children and grandchildren, and ensure long-term sustainable growth.
