Salazar Earns Policymaker of the Year Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recognized Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) as Policymaker of the Year for her deep commitment to solving the issues that directly impact the Hispanic community of the United States and her career of advocacy for the performing arts. She received the award with her Democratic colleague and cosponsor of the landmark Dignity Act (H.R. 3599), Rep. Veronica Escobar.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award from the Recording Industry Association of America alongside some of the most celebrated voices in Latin music and culture,” said Rep. Salazar. “Hispanic people in this country understand what makes America, the Promised Land, so special. I look forward to continuing to work with my friend and colleague Veronica Escobar to deliver change for our communities.”

RIAA Chief Policy Officer Morna Willens presented the Policymaker of the Year award to Reps. María Elvira Salazar and Veronica Escobar for their powerful connection to their communities and cultures. Other honorees included Cuban American music legends Gloria and Emilio Estefan, who received the Icon and Industry Trailblazer awards, and Colombian singer Sebastián Yatra, who was acknowledged as Artist of the Year. Sony Music Entertainment Executive VP and COO, Latin Iberia Maria Fernandez was presented with Executive of the Year.
