REP. SALAZAR SIGNS LETTER URGING THE SENATE TO INCLUDE THE HOUSE IN HEALTHCARE NEGOTIATIONS

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar (FL-27) signed a bipartisan letter urging Senate leaders to include both House Republicans and Democrats in the legislative process leading up to the promised healthcare reform vote in December, ensuring that patients continue to have access to affordable, lifesaving care.
“For any healthcare proposal aimed at lowering Americans’ healthcare costs while preserving access to quality care, bipartisan engagement is essential,” said Congresswoman Salazar. “That’s why I joined this bipartisan letter urging the Senate to include the House in these negotiations. In District 27, healthcare subsidies are not abstract policy, they are life-saving for thousands of families. They must be protected in every future healthcare debate.”
Throughout her time in Congress, Congresswoman Salazar has fought for continued access to healthcare for her constituents and has voted to maintain subsidies that provide lifesaving care, including cosponsoring H.R. 5145, the Bipartisan Premium Tax Credit Extension Act, which would extend these critical subsidies for one year.
The expiration of the Affordable Care Act’s enhanced premium tax credits would lead to significant cost spikes for families who rely on them. Without an extension, District 27 would face immediate and harmful impacts.
Congresswoman Salazar will continue working to ensure these vital subsidies remain in place and that her constituents are protected from rising healthcare costs.
