Rep. Salazar Announces HUD Community Planning Development Program Awards for FL-27

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) released the following statement after the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the Community Planning and Development Program Formula Allocations for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023:

“As Miami becomes an increasingly popular place to live, I remain committed to ensuring families have affordable and viable housing options in our area. These grants are vital to local municipalities around our country and will help residents with their housing needs.”

Salazar will continue to support policies, like Community Development Block Grants, that reduce the cost of living for Miami residents. Florida’s 27th congressional district is set to receive over $18.5 million dollars broken into three separate grant programs. 

Grant details and awarded amounts for Miami-Dade County are listed below:

Miami-Dade County Total: $18,564,478

The Community Development Block (CDBG) Grants program provides annual grants to States and local units of government to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons. Miami-Dade County: $11,970,673

The Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) program provides annual grants to State, local, and private entities to assist people in quickly regaining stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness. Miami-Dade County: $1,052,098

The HOME program helps to expand the supply of decent, affordable housing to low- and very low-income families by providing grants to States and local governments to fund housing programs that meet local needs and priorities. Miami-Dade County: $5,541,707
