President Trump Endorses Salazar’s TAKE IT DOWN Act During Presidential Address

March 5, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, President Trump endorsed H.R. 633, the TAKE IT DOWN Act, during his address to Congress. You can see his remarks here.

Rep. Salazar reintroduced this bill in January and is leading the effort in the House of Representatives to get this signed into law. Senator Ted Cruz (TX) leads the Senate version of the bill and recently secured its passage in the Senate.

With President Trump and the First Lady’s support, we will soon get the TAKE IT DOWN Act signed into lawsaid Congresswoman Salazar. “It is outrageously sick to use the image of a young vulnerable female to manipulate and humiliate them. We wrote the bill to stop this abuse on social media. No one deserves it more than the victims of the heinous crimes."

The bipartisan TAKE IT DOWN Act protects victims of real and deepfake ‘revenge pornography' by criminalizing the publication of these harmful images. It also requires websites to quickly remove these harmful images. The rising popularity of AI requires decisive federal action to protect victims of these sick crimes, most of whom are women and girls.

Earlier this week, Congresswoman Salazar joined First Lady Melania Trump and Senator Ted Cruz (TX) in a roundtable discussion about the bill. This discussion included many of the victims personally affected by fake online images. It also included House Speaker Mike Johnson (LA), Majority Leader Steve Scalise (LA), Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (MI), Republican Policy Committee Chair Kevin Hern (OK), Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Brett Guthrie (KY), and Congressman Ro Khanna (CA).
