FY 2026 COMMUNITY FUNDING PROJECT REQUESTS

Title: Key Biscayne K-8 Community School Stormwater System Upgrade

  • Project Sponsor: Village of Key Biscayne
  • Project Amount: $5,000,000
  • Description: This project will be used to install a new pump-based stormwater system to address the increasing flooding around the village K-8 Community School. 

 

Title: Key Biscayne Hybrid Reef for Shoreline Stabilization Study 

  • Project Sponsor: Village of Key Biscayne
  • Project Amount: $750,000
  • Description: This project will be used to complete a detailed assessment of the feasibility of using hybrid reefs as underwater structures to combat erosion on the Key Biscayne oceanside shoreline. 

 

Title: Lakes by the Bay Section 4 Water Quality Improvement Project 

  • Project Sponsor: Town of Cutler Bay
  • Project Amount: $2,000,000
  • Description: This project will be used to install new drainage systems and exfiltration trenches to treat runoff pollutants in the Town’s storm water system.

 

Title: Operation Community Shield 

  • Project Sponsor: Miami Dade Police Department
  • Project Amount: $2,500,000
  • Description: This project will be used for a strategic initiative to address gun violence, reduce gun-related crime, and removal of illegal firearms from the streets.

 

Title: Marked Police Cruisers 

  • Project Sponsor: City of Miami
  • Project Amount: $5,000,000
  • Description: This project will be used to acquire additional police cruisers with lights and sirens for increased community safety.

 

Title: Expanding and Studying the SEAHIVE Comb 

  • Project Sponsor: University of Miami
  • Project Amount: $4,000,000
  • Description: This project will be used for expanding the use of the SEAHIVE Comb technology as a large-scale proof-of-concept through three pilots with local communities; these pilots will allow investigation into new forms and applications for marine and estuarine protection. 

 

Title: Equipment Acquisition to advance functional precision medicine approaches and imaging studies for hard-to-treat cancers 

  • Project Sponsor: Florida International University
  • Project Amount: $5,000,000
  • Description: This project will be used for acquiring additional equipment to advance imaging studies and functional precision medicine approaches to more precisely study hard-to-treat cancers, and more rapidly identify individualized treatment options.

 

Title: Pinecrest Stormwater Management & Drainage Improvement Project 

  • Project Sponsor: Village of Pinecrest
  • Project Amount: $1,280,000
  • Description: This project will be used for installing an enhanced storm drainage system in an area of Pinecrest that experiences flooding during both significant storms and more common rain events, and its recurrent flooding issues make it a priority for the Village to address.

 

Title: Septic to Sewer (Sub-Area K Completion and Sub-Area J Design) 

  • Project Sponsor: City of South Miami
  • Project Amount: $2,450,000
  • Description: This project will be used to aid in providing 205 homes with sanitary sewer in Sub-Area K and will begin the process of design and permitting of Sub-Area J.
     

Title: Reefer Yard Electrification and Expansion Project 

  • Project Sponsor: Miami Dade County Seaport
  • Project Amount: $5,000,000
  • Description: This project will be used to expand the refrigerated container yard within an existing cargo yard to accommodate the increasing traffic of controlled atmosphere containers that handles refrigerated fruits, flowers, produce, and seafood at PortMiami.

 

Title: Senior Activity Center 

  • Project Sponsor: City of West Miami
  • Project Amount: $2,500,000
  • Description: This project will be used to serve as a multi-generational facility for our youth in providing summer and after school care, including tutoring and service to our seniors by helping them stay active, provide social functions, and by creating a meals program. The Center will also serve as an emergency operations facility.

 

Title: Auburndale Flood Improvements 

  • Project Sponsor: City of Miami
  • Project Amount: $5,000,000
  • Description: This project will be used to install new drainage systems and raise roadways to address flooding in low lying areas. 

 

Title: Campana & Rovino Force Main Replacement 

  • Project Sponsor: City of Coral Gables
  • Project Amount: $2,600,000
  • Description: This project will be used to replace the aging sewer infrastructure of the current force main pressurized sewage pipeline.

 

Title:Roadway Resurfacing of Coral Way (SW 24th Street) from SW 77 to SW 87

  • Project Sponsor: Miami-Dade County Transportation & Public Works
  • Project Amount: $960,000
  • Project Description: These combined funds will be utilized for the resurfacing of Coral Way (SW 24th Street) from SW 77 Avenue to SW 87 Avenue, a major arterial road in Miami, Florida. This project aims to improve roadway conditions, enhance safety for all users, and support the efficient movement of road users.

 

Title: Westchester Public Works Improvement

  • Project Sponsor: Miami-Dade County
  • Project Amount: $4,500,000
  • Description: This project will improve roads, utilities, traffic engineering, and streetscaping, as well as construct a retaining wall and install other features to facilitate the planned construction of an emergency services center.
