“The problem that small business owners are facing is not so much that we don’t have good laws on the books, but that our judicial partners are not fulfilling their part of the bargain,” said Rep. Salazar. “South Florida is experiencing a 50-year low in crime rates. We’re doing something right in Florida that apparently some other states are not.”

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, crime is at a 50-year low in the State of Florida. Data from Miami-Dade County specifically shows a 12% reduction in forceable sex offenses, 7% reduction in burglary, and a 5% reduction in motor vehicle thefts from the first half of 2022 to the first half of 2023.
Congresswoman Salazar will continue to fight for small businesses and the safety of our communities at the federal level.
