Dignity Act Reaches 30+ Cosponsors, Providing a Path Forward on Immigration and Border Security

January 24, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – With immigration consistently dominating national news, support continues to swell for H.R. 3599, Rep. María Elvira Salazar’s bipartisan Dignity Act.

The Dignity Act, spearheaded by Representatives Salazar (FL) and Escobar (TX), is the only bill in Congress that fixes all aspects of our broken immigration system – including securing the border, stopping illegal immigration, ending catch and release, providing a practical solution for the undocumented, and modernizing our legal immigration system. The details of the bill can be found here.

There is no shortage of discussion about the problem of immigration, but few in Congress are offering serious solutions. In a divided government, partisan solutions cannot become law, and failure to act only ensures we will maintain the status quo – which is unacceptable. The Dignity Act remains the only sensible, bipartisan solution proposed that addresses the totality of the problem.

The Dignity Act is the ONLY viable border security and immigration bill in Congress right now,” said Rep. Salazar. “I urge my colleagues to get behind a hard-fought solution that will end the immigration crisis and restore law and order once and for all.”

The Dignity Act also grows our economy and ensures the United States remains prosperous and competitive for the future. A recent report from the Bipartisan Policy Center concludes that just one of the Dignity Act’s provisions to reform the green card processing system would add $3.9 trillion to the United States’ GDP over 10 years.
