Salazar Joins Speaker Mike Johnson, Republican Leadership to Stand with Israel and Denounce One-Sided Pressure for Ceasefire

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) joined Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN), and Vice Conference Chair Blake Moore (R-UT) in a press conference to denounce one-sided pressure for a ceasefire in the war against Hamas and reiterate their support for the Jewish State of Israel.
“We must send the unequivocal message to the International Community that we stand with the only democracy in the Middle East, Israel – through our words, our resolutions, and our actions as a nation,” said Rep. Salazar.
“Joe Biden is seemingly more concerned with placating the anti-semitism in his base than standing with our historic and vitally important ally, Israel. It’s shocking to House Republicans. It’s wrong and dangerous,” said Speaker Johnson. “We must stand with Israel, and House Republicans commend Rep. Salazar’s leadership on this issue.”
Congresswoman Salazar recently introduced H.Res. 1117, a resolution that reaffirms the United States’ support for the State of Israel and condemns the brutal attack Hamas perpetrated against Israeli civilians on October 7, 2023. It also opposes efforts to place one-sided pressure on Israel with respect to Gaza, including calls for an immediate ceasefire without a demand for release of hostages, such as the recent statement by President Biden and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2728, which was adopted due to the Biden administration’s decision not to exercise the United States’ veto.
